Hello Scientists!

Welcome Back! I am looking forward to working with many of you again this semester, and getting to know those of you that are new to my class. Earth science can be challenging and fast paced, but it is also a lot of fun. This class is designed to improve your problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration, and literacy skills through inquiry, group work, and individual projects. We will explore many new things this semester including astronomy, meteorology, oceanography and energy. We will write, read, graph, question, and explore. Assignments will include clicker quizzes, labs, projects, homework, notes, discussions, and tests.

Please take the time to closely look over the course expectations for second semester because there are a few significant changes. The course expectations will give you information on what we will be covering, homework, tests/quizzes, how to make up work if you miss class and my overall grading policy. I expect all of you to follow these expectations and now is the time to ask questions if you have them. I only have one rule and the rule is this - Respect yourself and other people. Disrespect for any reason will not be tolerated. We all have the right to be treated with respect.

This website will mostly be used for homework discussions. It is your responsibility to respond to the prompts in a timely manner. Remember, your homework grade will drop 10% for each day it is late. If this creates a difficulty for you please speak with me so we can arrange an alternative option.

Please come talk to me or email me if you have any questions or concerns. I am always here for you. It is my job to help you be successful and career and college ready, and I know that each of you will achieve great things this semester. No matter what don't give up and together we will have a great rest of the school year!

Ms. Cummins
